The La Cotte Mill Chenin Blanc pays homage to the historic La Cotte Mill, one of the few original mills remaining in the Franschhoek Valley. This wine is crafted from vineyards that vary in age from 3 to 30 years, planted on diverse soil types to optimize performance. The grapes undergo a long, cool fermentation in stainless steel, followed by four months on the lees with occasional stirring to enhance richness and complexity.
Tasting Notes:
Aromas: The wine opens with inviting aromas of pineapple, fleshy peach, nectarine, and honeysuckle, complemented by notes of citrus and tropical fruit.
Palate: These aromatic themes carry over to the palate, where they are joined by a line of bright citrus and tropical fruit flavors. The wine finishes with a zesty freshness and a touch of leesy intrigue.
Body: It has a medium body with a lingering texture, making it both rich and complex.
Serving Suggestions:
Best served chilled at 6°C to 8°C, this Chenin Blanc is perfect for easy drinking, with or without food. It pairs wonderfully with sushi, roast chicken, creamy pasta, veal schnitzels, or fisherman’s pie. While it is optimally enjoyed in its vibrant youth, it can be cellared for up to three years from the vintage.
Enjoy exploring the flavors of this elegant and refined wine! 🍷
