Kraken Rum was introduced in 2010. Its base rum is distilled in Trinidad from sweet molasses made from locally-sourced sugarcane. The rum is then aged one to two years and blended with The Kraken's mix of special spices, which includes clove, ginger and cinnamon. When held up to the light in a glass, the rum is black with subtle brown hints. Many are drawn to The Kraken Black Spiced Rum for the bottle, which is styled after a classic Victorian rum bottle. The bottle features two hoop handles that would have been used to hang the container and prevent breakages. The best thing about The Kraken is its depth of flavors. As with any drink, the aroma is what hits you first. The Kraken boasts a nutty scent with coffee, vanilla, cherryade and gunpowder, immediately setting the tone for a wonderful sensory experience.
